1,000 listings, one SKU: the fitment catalog, done right
The long-tail 'part X fits model Y' page is a genuine high-intent SEO asset — but only if each page earns its place. Templated name-swaps are doorway content Google has demoted since 2024. Here's how we build the catalog so it ranks instead of buries.
A single 1TB SSD can fit a thousand laptop models. Sold well, that's a thousand high-intent landing pages — someone searching '1TB SSD for Dell Inspiron 15 3520' is ready to buy. Sold badly, it's a thousand near-duplicate pages that drag the whole domain down.
One SKU, many pages — cleanly
Bizdia's fitment engine — our signature edge, in development — models this with a CompatibilityListing entity: brand, model, slug, unique copy and specs, pointing at exactly one ProductVariant. The storefront will render one SEO page per model, and every page adds the same variant to the cart, so fulfillment still sees a single SKU. Inventory truth stays in one place — which matters when Amazon, your own site and MCF all draw from one FBA pool.
Why templated pages fail
Google's core systems have demoted doorway and scaled-content pages hard since March 2024. A page whose only difference from its neighbor is the model name swapped in is exactly what those systems target. The fix isn't a trick — it's genuine per-model value:
- Real compatibility notes — connector, form factor, height clearance, BIOS caveats
- Install guidance specific to that machine, not boilerplate
- Honest specs and the models a part does and doesn't fit
- Structured data: Product/Offer JSON-LD, a correct canonical, an entry in the sitemap
So the import pipeline has a mandatory step between ingest and publish: enrich and rewrite. Scraped copy never goes live as-is — that's both a legal exposure and a ranking liability. The enrichment step is the moat, not a nice-to-have.
Unique, useful per-model content is a launch gate. If a fitment page can't say something true and specific about that model, it doesn't ship.
Done right, the catalog will compound: thousands of pages, each ranking for a precise buying query, all feeding one clean SKU into fulfillment. That's the asset a generic hosted store can't easily give you — and the reason we're building the fitment engine.
